Friday afternoon Tony,Roger,Chase ,Paul,Peter,Geoff,Nick & Jim turned out to set up the station. Paul shipped the antenna across the river in his kayak .
Roger arranged the PR display whilst the others raised the antenna!
This last task taking more effort and patients than should normally be required hi hi.
On testing the Alinco Rig it was found NOT to switch the external power amp on loan from Jim.
Saturday..Very early start..& Geoff had found from the web that a link had to be removed from the transceiver to activate the external switching:Tnx Geoff!
This extra power “let the smoke out” of Jims 1kw SWR meter ..so we are awaiting a damage report on that one (sri jim).Paul Reeves appeared with his catering head on and fed the team with bacon & sausage butty (plus egg & mushroom for some). They were most filling and the smell turned a few heads in the car park.
The rest of the event was smooth running with many contacts being made both on and off the air! One or two possible future club members may be!
Peter Loosmore is to be praised for making us so welcome and we hope to be back again next year.
Packing up on Sunday was a pleasure to watch !!!! All to hand mucked in and the total station was removed from site in under an hour.
Very many stories still remain untold (eg Peter & his manpacks!) but they may ooze out in time hi hi
I will edit & update this item again but we did work 20plus other water & wind mills! Well done to all those involved…thank you. De Tony G0GFL
