We are the Chesham & District Amateur Radio Society (Known as C&DARS)
Club Callsigns are: G1MDG & G3MDG
We are Affiliated to the RSGB, and have a fully operational Radio "Shack" with radio equipment for HF & VHF SSB , CW & Packet / Data communications.
Here is some information about obtaining a UK amateur radio licence.
You MUST have a licence to operate amateur radio and there are three levels of licence:
Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced, but you need to take the exams for each in order.
The entry level is the Foundation licence which allows 10W power on a wide range of the HF (short wave) and VHF/UHF amateur frequency bands. The course takes around 10-12 hours and includes some practical work which needs to be formally assessed by a registered instructor.
Training Courses and Exams are held at the Chesham and District Amateur Radio Society's premises at the White Hill Community Centre, White Hill, Chesham HP5 1AG.
Courses are generally held on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 to 6:00pm.
For further information check out the the RSGB website www.rsgb.org for other instructors in your general area.
We meet every Wednesday evening,at 20:15 until 22:00, throughout the year, in the White Hill Centre.
Club meetings details are available on the Events - Club Calendar page.
