Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Birth of British RADAR.
For a number of years The Coventry Amateur Radio Society have been involved in celebrating the Birth of British RADAR
in a Field at Litchborough near Weedon.
For the 75th Anniversary we did re-enactment with working RADAR and had fellow radio amateurs fly their aircraft over the site.
Reports of this activity prompted Helen, Eddie Izzards PR person to ask if we were doing anything for the 80th anniversary because Eddie would like to come along. Well it would be rude to refuse. Of course he can was the reply, and he came along, bringing with him members of the cast of Castles in the Sky.
What a great time was had Eddie even bringing with him some fine malt whisky to toast the event.
On GB8ORE Eddie passed a greeting message to Bawdsey Manor, all witnessed by BBC Radio & TV who turned up to broadcast the event.
