APPLE DAY AT WOODLANDS FARM

CRAY VALLEY PUT ON A STATION TO DEMONSTRATE AMATEUR RADIO AT APPLE DAY.

24 Oct 2011

Sunday 23 October saw a small group of
club members (Kevin M0KSJ, Cliff G4HSU, Chris G0FDZ, Lawrie G4FAA, George G3BNE and Dave M0BGR) down on the farm as part of the Apple Day celebration fair at Woodlands Farm on the eastern slopes of Shooters Hill.
One observation that was made during the day that is worth noting for similar events, was the magic effect CW has on the passing crowds! With Lawrie, George and Dave on the key at various times you could almost see ears prick up as folk heard the rhythmic dits and dahs above the background noise... “bees to a honey pot” might be another take on this and an excellent way of stopping all ages in their tracks and telling them about amateur radio.

George G3BNE was kept busy on 10 metres

Lots of information on the club and our training courses
