SUCCESSFUL FIELD DAY AT LAMERTON

FOR THE SECOND YEAR DRC HELD A SUCCESSFUL 2-DAY EVENT.

06 Sep 2010

DRC held another successful 2 day field event - in a field near Lamerton north of Tavistock. 3 sets of aerials were set up; one north-south trapped di-pole, one east-west Windom and one 2M Yagi.
At first we avoided the SSB Field Day events when possible by transmitting on 17M, but later in the day provided quite a few contacts for contestants.
Members were thrilled to make contact with Japan and Brazil on HF, and locations in Spain and Portugal on 2M.
The highlight of the evening was the pot stew provided by John, and though not intoxicated, we were invaded by 20 or so hot air balloons taking part in the Tavistock Balloon Fest. One nearly landed on us!
The weather was kind and all those who attended helped to erect masts, tents and aerials. And finally - take everything down again - harder work after 2 days of intense activity.

Will they land on us?

Terry praying to his new aerial system.
