I hope that you all had a really seriously nice Christmas/Festive Season. To me it is tinged with sadness but so lovely to see young ones enjoy themselves. It seems, and Iím sure to some of the older folks, that each passing year has its fun times and sad times.
I had the opportunity to go to the Whitton Christmas dinner on 15th December at the Winning Post Public House in Twickenham. This, to some of the older members, who may recall, times when the RSGB held conventions there. (Oh wasnít it so much more smaller then and compressed into such a small space). But not necessarily better. I can only say the Old Venue has not lost its charm.
I have to announce that with regret that I have to relinquish my post as the Editor of Vital Spark. This is due to the fact that medically I am fighting a condition that seems hell bent on winning. I find it hard to struggle with both that and the demands of the monthly requirement, sadly I must try and make life easier. I know the Committee need backing and of course someone to take on the challenge once I depart. We the committee and myself are seeking someone else to run the Editorship. Itís not so hard a job if your fit and able, Iím sure that there is life after G4KLF, and the other previous editors. Please think about it and keep this great magazine going in the manner to which it has become accustomed to.
I am so glad to see responses from the readers about articles previously published. To me it shows that we may be hitting the right chords. I have similar responses further on
in the magazine and its nice to know that the responses are positive and can add to our knowledge.
Now remember folks we still have the QSL card competition which ends at the end of January. John Heys has generously submitted some really ancient QSL Cards as a prize and I would like to say that for those of us who really care for our hobby it is in the interests of us all to enter and try our luck, so folks send in your applications.
I shall be stepping down as Editor of this magazine at the February AGM, this is mainly to do with the frequency of unplanned visits to the local hospital over which I have no control. I have enjoyed my time as Editor and have tried to give a varied menu of topics, hopefully of interest to most of you. So now HERC is looking for someone to replace me, it is an interesting and varied job, one that I picked up from scratch with no previous experience, and very little computer knowledge. If there is anyone of our members who would like to try their hand then please contact me or any member of HERC Committee.
