Huntingdonshire Amateur Radio Society Extraordinary General Meeting & Annual General Meeting
Steve G1KWF has called for an EGM in order to amend the constitution.
The reason for this proposed change is due to a condition placed on HARS by the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation with respect to acceptance of their £500 grant. This condition, accepted by the HARS committee, required the society draft a positive statement with respect to non-discrimination and equal opportunities.
If any member has any proposed alternative changes to the constitution, would they please inform the Secretary in writing at least two weeks in advance of the meeting.
It is proposed that the following statement will be added to the constitution:
"The Huntingdon Amateur Radio Society (HARS) is committed to a policy of equal opportunities for members. We want to ensure that no member or membership applicant receives less favourable treatment because of their race, colour nationality, ethnic or national origin, or on the grounds of their gender, marital status, disability, age, sexual orientation or religion; or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which are not justified by society activities to be undertaken. This policy concerns all aspects of club activities for existing members and potential members."
The above changes will be put to the members for discussion at the EGM. Any changes to the constitution will only be implemented by a majority vote of the paid up members present.
