The MID-ULSTER AMATEUR RADIO CLUB was founded in 1965 in Portadown. It was not known as such until 1982 when we aquired the callsign GI3VFW which was the callsign of Stanley Eakins SK. We have been awarded an Awards for All Lottery Grant to purchase new equipment,TX/RX,Aerials,etc.some of which have already been purchased.
We meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Galley Cafe Kinnego Marina one mile
from junction 10 of the M1. All catagory of Amateur Radio Licence instruction is available,our Chairman John GI0KUH is the tutor. The classes are held at our club meeting place. the Galley Cafe.
We have two club trophies which are awarded annually. The Les Lyske (GI3CDF) Perpetual Cup and The Parkanaur Shield. Last year the cup was awarded to George McHugh GI4SRQ and the Shield was awarded to John McCabe GI0KUH. The club has two Hon.Life Members. Ivan Gracey GI3WEM & Danny Campbell GI4NKD.
