About our club

Background

RAYNET EVOLVED FROM THE EAST COAST FLOODS OF 1953 WHICH GAVE RISE TO MUCH LOSS OF LIFE, AND DEVASTATION TO BUILDINGS BOTH IN ENGLAND AND ACROSS THE NORTH SEA IN HOLLAND AND BELGIUM.
RADIO AMATEURS IN THE GRIMSBY AREA WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN SAVING THE LIVES OF MANY SEAMEN THROUGH PASSING ON DISTRESS MESSAGES WHEN NORMAL COMMUNICATIONS FAILED. FOR OVER FIFTY YEARS WE HAVE CONTINUED TO BE AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH OUR WORK WITH THE RED CROSS AND ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE,AND THE COUNTY EMERGENCY PLANNING DEPARTMENT AT LINCOLN FIRE HEADQUATERS

Meeting times

The group does not normally meet outside exercise dates, but it is hoped shortly to re-introduce monthly nets on 2 and 80
