Steve will talk about the MKARS80 (pronounced emcars80) 80mtr transceiver kit developed by the Milton Keynes ARS. This transciever is based on the BITX20 transceiver developed in India by Asshar Farhan VU2ESE. Farhan's original concept was to enable Indian radio amateurs to be able to get on the air using parts salvaged only from TV sets. Among the interesting features are toroidial transformers, normally requiring a ferrite core from somewhere like Amidon, wound on tap washers. How's that for Home Brew innovation!
