GB3OHM BEACONS

SBRS OPERATES 2 RADIO PROPAGATION BEACONS SINCE FEBRUARY 1989 TO TEST AND CALIBRATE ANTENNAS AND RECEIVERS AS WELL AS ASSIST IN THE INVESTIGATION OF THE PROPAGATION OF RADIO SIGNALS.

The 9cm beacon operates on 3,400.900 MHz, it sends in morse code the callsign GB3OHM every minute plus the locator IO92AJ every 4th time with key down for the remainder. It has an output power of 12w from an ex-Ionica SSPA (solid state power amplifier) to a slotted waveguide antenna, which gives 100w EIRP.

The 6cm beacon operates on 5,760.900 MHz and send the callsign G2OHM and locator IO92AJ once a minute, built using a control board provided by G4JNT provided a board, running 11w from an SSPA to an Alford Slot antenna, which gives 60W EIRP.
