THINKING DAY - 2008

A Radio station was set up in the Guide Headquarters and using the call sign GX4WWR the girls were able to send greeting messages to other Radio Amateurs. The group was active on 20/40mts HF 2mts, 70cm & Echolink via a repeater connection.

Various stations were contacted and the girls were able to practice using the phonetic alphabet which they had been learning.

The Brownies also took part in a Radio Treasure hunt using walkie talkies they were guided round a course having to pick up clues at various points on route, this gave them a chance to use their skills at map reading and sending reports back to base station.

Members of the radio station also set up a weather satellite station so the Brownies could watch the clouds and fog from outer space as it formed over Europe.
