About our club

Background

The club was founded on October 4th 1961 (see the article "In The Beginning").
We have a regular monthly meeting at the Aboyne Lodge School and events at other venues. We run Amateur Licence Courses, have a contest Group and run joint events with other clubs.
We organised a demonstration of amateur radio for the scouts at Phasels Wood Scout camp to celebrate 100 years of Scouting (1907-2007). See article "SUNRISE DAY".
We WELCOME BEGINNERS, and anybody else interested in amateur radio.

MONTHLY MEETINGS at held at the Aboyne Lodge School. Etna Road St. Albans. At the North East end of the main St.Albans shopping street (St Peters Street), there is a roundabout where the Hatfield road (A1057) from the EAST and Catherine Street (A4147) from the WEST cross St Peters Street (A1081). Take Catherine Street (A4147), then after about 250 yards on your left take Etna Road. This has a one way traffic system. When Worley Road appears on your right, the school gates will be lying back on your left. For those using SatNav, the postcode is AL3 5NL and NGR TL147076.
