VP8YLI Ruth Geering (IT9ESZ)

Swiss born and raised in Zurich, I live in Sicily since I got married to a thoroughbred Sicilian 40 years ago. Therefore I have the Swiss and Italian nationality. I got my license in 1988, the only Ham in our family, and from the beginning I preffered the DXs. I am a member of YLRCI “Elettra Marconi”, was President for 2 years and for over 15 years I am holding the task of DX-Correspondent. I also have a Swiss call HB9LFM DX experiences: HV4NAC; 1A0KM (SMOM); 4U1ITU self-organized with 2 other YL’s; 3V8BB as the first YL operators together with OK1GB Renata in a OK- DX Team; TF/IT9ESZ in 1997; TS7N twice with an International Team organized by DJ7IK and DL1BDF; the last one in 2006 -Libya 5A7A as the only YL operator in a Team of 24 operators from 8 Nations, a very exciting challenge for me. In 2002, I organized the International YL Meeting in Palermo with the big help of local YL’s+OM’s. 122 participants from 18 countries assisted to this really wonderful and unforgettable event. I am a member of YLRL, CLARA, ALARA, WARON, JLRS, BYLARA. I speak 4 languages, with some knowledge of Spanish. Traveling is my favorite hobby. I attended many International YL Meetings all over the world since I am “in the business”, missed the last ones in India and South Africa.
