OUTLINE OF PROPOSED NEW REPEATER FOR JERSEY

After a selection process previously carried out in October 2009 and subsequent repeater group meeting the water authority site at Westmount has been selected.
In summary the following findings were obtained from the field test:
Westmount: Good location for central St.Helier and south coast, good and mostly strong coverage to west side of the island falling off markedly to the north and east.
Written application made to Jersey Water to request repeater siting:
The site has been offered, in principle for free. RL spoke to Helier Smith of Jersey Water. He was most helpful but stated that he will need some more technical information from us as soon as we are able, to pass to his technical adviser (Bill Harris) to review and to ensure any co-channel interference is minimised. RL is to draft a letter to him but will need input on the technicalities.
Mast construction commencing early 2009, he is still hoping to give us a free site but could not give us security of tenure on that basis unless we paid rent, this carries a risk that a paying user could displace the repeater at a later stage. We have not yet established the level of rental necessary to secure the site permanently.

An application has been received to revive a 2 Metre repeater on Jersey, Channel Islands.
Subject to vetting and licensing the repeater should provide useful coverage in Jersey and parts of Guernsey.
Keeper is Peter, GJ8PVL”
The vetting process is indicated as having been sent to the Regional Manager on 23rd December 2008 for consideration.
